Foothill 2018-2019 Spring Recap
May 29, 2018
Hello Phoenixes and Guests!
Welcome to the official web page of the CNH CKI Foothill division! My name is Richard and I’m proudly serving as the 2018-2019 Lieutenant Governor of this beautiful division!
Since District Convention 2018 our division and clubs have had a productive start as we prepared for the term ahead.
The first Divisional Council Meeting was hosted on April 14th at Cal State Los Angeles, the home club of the LTG. The DCM also featured a trainer with workshops to train the newly elected officers; as well as other workshops covering our district service initiative, district committees, graphic standards, and even a “Life After College” workshop hosted by Grace Chi, our regional adviser.
We also had our end of the year banquet at Mount San Antonio College on April 28th. The event was called “Banqlit” with a fiery theme reflective of our mascot, the Phoenix. Banqlit featured thai food, a slideshow, photo booth and speeches by both the incoming and exiting LTG’s. The event was emotional especially for our retiring Lieutenant Governor Diana Mora.
Moving onto May, our division was an ecstatic participant in Spring Training Conference South. We had one Phoenix co-host a workshop, Amanda Liao who is also a member of Foothill’s Divisional Leadership Team (DLT)! Foothill members had a blast attending workshops, and participating in cheers. STC South was also the site for our May DCM in which presidents gave their reports, a fun bingo game was played as an icebreaker, a spirit session was held, and our divisional theme and DLT was announced. Our theme and DLT will soon be listed here on this web page. Stay tuned! Foothill was also close to winning the onsite fundraiser hosted at STC. The donations made will be split evenly across our three District Fundraising Initiatives: Feeding America, The Pediatric Trauma Program, and the Kiwanis Family House.
On May 12, we held our first divisional service project, which was helping out at Identity LA. The event was a cultural and music festival celebrating Asian Pacific heritage. Volunteers helped out with setup, handing out flyers, and other duties. The event was hosted in Downtown Los Angeles, where Phoenixes also got the chance to watch Jay Park and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park perform.
Also in May, the Foothill pen pal system was launched by our Executive Assistant of Fellowship Amanda Liao. At the time of this writing the pen pal system application form is about to close and the DLT and I are excited to see the program go into full swing soon.
Finally, summer will kick off early with our next DCM being hosted online on June 1st. Spring was a great start for Foothill and I only expect things to get better as we head into summer!
