Good afternoon, CNH Circle K,
Here is the second week of Member Recognition Mondays for this month featuring the central region of our District: Central Coast, Desert Oasis, and Foothill Divisions! MR Mondays is a nifty way to recognize all kinds of members throughout our District for their involvement in Circle K. For the month of August, we are recognizing a member from each division who had stood out among their peers for being very active in Circle K over the summer.
Central Coast Division
Mikyla Maglente, Moorpark College

Desert Oasis Division
James Malabanan, UN Las Vegas

Foothill Division
Marian Huang, Mt. San Antonio College
Check out the post at the CNH Circle K website to see how they stay involved this summer from the Lieutenant Governors, and also their answers to three fun questions! Stay tuned to next week to see which members were recognized from the southern region of our District!
For every single member chosen through MR Mondays this month, they had to answer the following questions below:
1. Who do you look up to in Circle K, and why?
2. What’s invisible but you wish people can see?
3. Through what medium would you like to get cool when you have been wandering under the sun all day?

See what the Lieutenant Governors had to say about them and their answers!

Central Coast Division
Mikyla Maglente, Moorpark College
“Mikyla has been actively pushing the club to new limits, forcing the board out of their comfort zones and pushing the club to achieve a lot in little time. She has been absolutely vital to the the club’s quick chartering and initiation. She has led the club’s main project and also the club’s first volunteer event last month, in the absence of the club’s president. We are all looking forward to working with her during the rest of the year!”
Q&A:

1. I look up to Jessica, the chartering president of Biola’s Circle K, because of her sheer dedication to making her club the best Circle K that it can be. Even through the many difficult challenges of leading a club, she doesn’t let the circumstances affect her because her club’s success is the only end goal she focuses on. Her dedication also shines through and reaches people all the time – her optimism, positivity, and enthusiasm touches everyone she meets so that they become fast friends even if they were strangers a minute before. Her love for Circle K and service is palpable – and that’s what I want to emulate as I serve.
2. I wish people could see other people’s potential. Speaking from experience, I used to be a very quiet kid. Even though I was too shy to talk in class, in my mind I’d always want to be included with the other kids. Now, I’m happy to say that I came out of my shell and I take a lot of joy in having the opportunity to lead others and make friends. I owe it all to a girl named Paola; she recognized my potential and was the ONLY one to try and befriend the quiet girl. Without someone seeing my potential, I could not have opened up enough to blossom into the person I am today. Some kids just need a friend; with people seeing others potential, I think a lot more people would be happy. 🙂
3. I’d probably want to sit in an ice cream truck for a couple hours and eat Dippin Dots. That or take a trip to the frozen section of the best store ever, Target.

Desert Oasis Division
James Malabanan, UN Las Vegas
“James has gone above and beyond during the summer by consistently going to service and offering rides to anyone who needs one, even if they’re 45 minutes away from his house. Since summer started, he had given rides to members from UN Reno who are here for summer break and members from our own club as well. Another notable moment was when we volunteered at the Kiwanis International Convention where we helped with the Aktion Club Training Leadership Conference. We wanted to do an ice breaker with the members of Aktion Club and James immediately took initiative and led the ice breaker for everyone in the room! James has gone to almost every service project this summer. Even when he went back home to Hawaii for a few weeks, he was thinking about how much he wanted to come back and do service! James has come a long way since he first joined the club and he’s always trying to help out the club as much as he can.”
Q&A:
1.  The person that I look up to the most in Circle K would have to be my big Vinh Tran!  I look up to him because he is such a reliable and friendly person that you can talk to him about anything!
2.  Something that is invisible but I wish people could see are emotions because I can be terrible when it comes to reading a person’s expression!
3.  I would love to cool off from wandering under the sun for the day by relaxing in an air conditioned room and enjoying a drink of boba tea!

Foothill Division
Marian Huang, Mt. San Antonio College
“Marian has taken so much initiative since she was awarded her position as K-Fam Chair. She has reached out to other A-Board memebers in our division as well as attend Kiwanis meetings. She has made it apart of her life to be updated with our clubs an Kiwanis.”
Q&A:

1. I honestly look up to anyone who has been in Circle K longer than I have since I’m fairly new and still have so much to learn! A lot of the different members in Circle K who hold leadership positions dedicate so much of their time towards the organization and it’s really motivating to see. It definitely gives me that extra push to want to do more!
2. I wish people could see dark matter in space! It’s impossible to detect it but there have been a lot of incidences where it’s just not possible for so little observable matter to exist in space alone. I learned about this in my astronomy class and I think it’s so mysterious. Space is so mysterious in general.
3. I would get cool through cold air (a.k.a air conditioning). I feel like this is the fastest way to cool down the body after walking around during a hot day. I also remember my experiences in Las Vegas where I would retreat from the crazy heat through walking into hotel lobbies for cold air conditioning. But of course, ice-cream would be my second option (‘:
