STUDENTS OF Sacramento State HOST ANNUAL LEADERSHIP EVENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS – KEY TO COLLEGE

SACRAMENTO, California; June 11, 2016 — Sacramento State’s chapter of Circle K International (CKI), a community service organization, hosted its annual college education and outreach program on Saturday from 10AM-4PM at Sacramento State. Almost a hundred high school students attended this event.

Some of the schools that students came from included Hiram Johnson, Inderkum, West Campus, Franklin, Monterey Trail, Sheldon, Florin, and Valley High School.

Key to College is a free day-long program for college-bound high school students to show them first-hand aspects of college life while fostering a fun and interactive environment for current college students to mentor high school students.

Some of the workshops featured were College Readiness, Healthy Living, Financial Aid, Personal Financing, and College Life.

“Key to College is a valuable resource provided by Circle K to Key Clubber in hopes that Key Clubbers could learn more about college life from others, the college admission process, and several other factors all through personal experiences. Key to College not only gives high school students information about college that could play a valuable role in shaping their future and their goals, but can also help inspire them to do better and aim higher. Having the opportunity to provide local high school students with such a valuable resource, and seeing the end results after much planning and loads of stress made all the difference in the end,” said first year college student Edward Huang, who chaired the event.
