District Goals 2008-2009

 
The District Board will promote the meaningfulness of our District Fundraising Initiatives with the following course of actions:
  1. At our District events, we plan to implement service projects related to our District Fundraising Initiatives, as well as have informative displays supplements.
  2. Within 2 months of selection and approval of our District Fundraising Initiative , we plan to provide divisions with suggestions for DFI-related service projects and contact information for local organizations involved in our DFIs.

The District Board will promote the meaningfulness of our service projects at District Events by:
  1. Increasing communication through different forms of media before and after our District Service events explaining the impacts we will/have made.
  2. Developing our District Service Initiative by June 15th and have a consensus of areas where members would like to focus on 3 months before district events

The District Board will work toward creating a District-wide donations spreadsheet by:
  1. Providing an organized resource for donations, compiling information on Circle K friendly benefactors by August/September
  2. Giving clubs support with finding local or global organizations and businesses.

The District Board will promote interclubbing with high schools (Key Club and KIWIN’S interactions) by:
  1. Creating a database of local Key Club and KIWIN’s Kiwanis Advisor and officer contact information within each Circle K division by June 30
  2. To develop and promote monthly Kiwanis Family days to Circle K clubs (relating to youth) with a focus on what is going on at the time, starting with the Circle K school year (August- end)

The District Board will promote the utilization of the website and email reflectors to target club officers by:
  1. Having the LTGs collect entire club board contacts for all schools by the end of the respective school’s year end
  2. Submitting all educational materials before the beginning of the school year
  3. Submitting all promotional materials at least 2 months in advance of District Events

The District Board will promote a focus on suspended and retained clubs by:
  1. Bringing 6 out of 8 clubs that are currently in retained/suspended status back into good standing. By the end of the year, we want to work closely with the LTGs to communicate to our local Kiwanis family clubs, starting in the summer to prepare for fall recruitment.
  2. Providing training and resources for future leadership and build stronger Kiwanis family relations in order to keep clubs in good standing in the future.

The District Board will promote a focus on the prompt forwarding of club funds by:
  1. Prompting clubs to submit all raised funds to the District Treasurer by November 1st for eligibility of fundraising awards at Fall Training Conference
  2. Prompting clubs to submit all raised funds to the District Treasurer by March 1st for eligibility of fundraising awards at District Convention
  3. Having Lieutenant Governors promote the timely submission of funds to the District Treasurer

The District Board will promote unified District spirit by:
  1. Appointing unofficial Cheer Masters by International Convention who will archive one main cheer per club and encourage clubs to learn them by International Convention, where he/she can head a unified District.

The District Board will promote the addition of food sponsors to our District events by:
  1. Finding a food sponsor at least 2 months before to minimize costs for membership, creating an extra incentive to attend District events such as CKI South/North and Go West!

The District Board will promote the establishment of a career fair at our annual District Convention by:
  1. Actively advertising a career fair to promote “life” in the “real world” after Circle K and college starting after Winter Break in conjunction with District Convention
