Members of the Month - April 2008
CSU Fullerton Jennifer Lopez Jennifer has been an outstanding member by coming to as many projects as she can. She keeps people up on long drives to DCON. Jennifer has allowed many people to make jokes about her all the while laughing along with them. She has exhibited all the qualities of a great member! De Anza Philip “Jonas” Teng- Jonas deserves to be recognized this month as he took the initiative to make phone calls, reach out to find events and volunteer his time this month. It surprised me to see how enthusiastic Jonas was even when he was sore, tired and a bit dirty! UCI April’s Member of the Month is Yuko Okano. As only a first year, she has been very active in the club and has been attending numerous events weekly. She currently is the member with the most service hours for April. UNR Abigail Lupena is Reno’s outstanding member of the month. She has helped our club with events in the past and recently became a member. As a new member she has shown that she will be a great asset to our club in the future with becoming our new historian chair. SDSU
The member of the month for the month of April is Charmika Gelmo. She was our secretary for two consecutive years and now that she’s finally a retired board member, she still steps in to help us whenever we need her to. For the month of April, she helped us out a lot with our Spaghett Dinner/Installation planning and she stepped up to take care of the desserts for us. We’ll really miss her input since she is also a graduating senior. UCLA Joe Randazzo – Joe has been an active member in many of our events, including Reading To Kids and the Frozen Yogurt Social. He has taken the time and effort to provide us rides to many of our events, which has been very much appreciated. Without him, many of our events would not have been possible. Kelly Tran – Starting out as a fresh face, it is undeniable that this bubbly face has gone the extra mile. She has attended many of our events including Shriners Hospital, baking and selling for our PTP Bake Sale, and has given some wonderful ideas as a member of our Service Committee. Heather Cavion – A 24 hour track relay may seem intimidating to some, but for Heather, it’s an average walk in the park. She has shown her dedication by walking over 20 hours at our Relay For Life, cooking at Transitional Turning Point, and got to experience first hand tutoring at Emerson Middle School. SFSU Taryn Morris This fresh new member has contributed her time in volunteering on- and off-campus community service events and as well as getting well acquainted with the organization in the club and division level. We have chosen her to be the SFSU Circle K Member Of Month for April for her devotion to serving the community, and supporting the Circle K organization. UCR Brian Vo is our outstanding member for this month! Only a first year, Brian has shown his dedication to our service events by consistently attending at least two events each week. He has a lot of potential to become a very active member and a leader as well. USC
Our outstanding member of the month for May is Sue Chong. Sue has been a member of USC Circle K for the past four years, and she has always made an effort to come to a wide variety of service projects, fundraisers, and socials. She has graciously offered to act as our chauffeur countless times, driving us to many of our service projects throughout the Los Angeles area. Most recently, she has served as our secretary, and did an amazing job by submitting her MRFs in a timely manner and serving as an example to other members. We are so grateful for her contributions to this club and they will not be forgotten after she graduates. PCC During the month of April we have had one member that shined brighter than everyone else. This member that I am talking about is Chau Nguyen. Upon joining our club in the spring semester, she has been a very active member. She has attended a majority of our service projects this month along with a few socials that we had. After she has done this she ran for the chair position for the service committee and obtained the position. UCSD
Jeff Jou has been a very active Circle K-er. He dedicates his time on many service events such as Relay for Life and La Jolla Half Marathon, and he also contributes in building a user-friendly club website. We really appreciate all of the hard work that he has put into Circle K and the community! CSU Dominguez Hills Mattia Day – Being the newly elected secretary has been harder than I though but thanks to Mattia and Alex Chu I’ve been getting the hang of it. Mattia hasn’t just helped me but the other newly elected officials as well. Her spirit for Circle K is always bright and always trying to get people together to discuss how to make everything better. Mattia spends countless hours making posters to advertise us and countless hours trying to let more and more people know that Circle K is here at CSUDH. Thanks Mattia. Whittier Ellie Maas is one of the members that deserves special recognition this month. She has been working extremely hard to raise enough money so she could be able to have a “Genocide Awareness Day” at Whittier College on May 4th. Because of all her hard work and efforts, she was able to raise enough money to go on with the project which will now become a reality! CSU East Bay The member of the month is Sarah Starks. She really has been a dedicated member throughout the club. Even though she has been busy doing other service, she still serves our community through Circle K. She is also our new MD&E chair and picked up the responsibilities quickly. UC Berkeley Rocky has been an amazing member this past month! He has contributed much to the club by attending continuous events such as Special Needs Aquatics Program (SNAP) and Meals on Wheels as well as our big service projects, Camp Gualala and Camp Cazadero. Not only did he spend a few hours keeping our sibling Kiwins and Key Clubbers in line at their convention, he also came out to help with almost all of the committee meetings! Thanks so much for all your support and dedication Rocky! UNLV This month we have had quite a few members that dedicated a serious amount of time to doing service, but out of all of our members, Shaun Pinlac has stood out the most. Attending every major service event that was planned this month, Shaun managed to rack in a total of 22 hours, making him the only non-board member to have 20+ service hours. We congratulate Shaun on his hard work and dedication to the club by making him our Member of the Month for the month of April 2008. UC Davis Stephen Chan has been a part of our club since the fall, and recently applied to be our Spirit Chair. Not only has he put forward some great ideas on cheers and spirit for our club, but he also makes entertaining recap videos of certain events each week. He has been extremely active this past month by attending a great number of our service projects. Greg Webb joined our club in April, and immediately signed up for almost every project we presented at the first meeting he attended. He came out to numerous service projects, and subsequently applied for our Fundraising Chair. Although he is involved with student government among many other things, he dedicates a lot of his time doing service, and even plans other club meetings so he can attend ours! |
