Members of the Month - April 2008
Sac State Linda Sok Although she is graduating soon, she still took the initiative to join our club as a paid member. Linda was very helpful and had an input during our meetings. Not only in our general meetings, but she also took the time to join the board meetings and volunteered to help us however she could. Her generosity has been a great help to our club. Especially when we had our Kiwanis Family Night, the board was so stressed due to last minute planning, but Linda would just do whatever she could to make it easier for us. She has given up so much of her time and effort to our club more than any other member has done, and considering that she is new, she has done an outstanding job. Greg Hicks: Greg is our new member. He is very enthusiastic and an active member who attends all the meetings and many events. He has a true heart for service, which was shown by his attendance at CSUS's Alternative Break Program. This program was on Spring Break and a group from school does various community service events. He is also a member of Alphi Phi Omega, which is a group at school. Greg connects us with that group for events as well. We are greatful for Linda and Greg's participation and look forward to what they will bring in the future. UNR Congratulations Pierce Robledo! He is a new member this year and he has been so involved and excited to be a Circle K member. Pierce was also voted University Connections Chair this month and therefore holds a position on the 2009-2010 UNR Circle K Excecutive Board! UCR Ryan Lara was April's member of the month. Ryan has recently become a member and has shown excellent dedication to UCR Circle K. He has attended many service and social events. He has also been willing to give rides for numerous events he has attended. He was also one of the drivers that drove to Las Vegas in order for us to attend UNLV's service event and banquet. He has recently become the fundraising chair for the administrative board. He has shown great leadership abilities and dedication to our club. UNLV Sky Hu - For always calling and keeping up to date on the club, although he missed some meetings, Doing an amazing job chairing his first event, the Boys and Girls Club visit. Where he epically trained the kids and dancing and had fun with them. Also for chairing and putting together from scratch a "Bowl Your Stress Out" bowling social for our Study Week, which was a huge success for our club, with many members in attendance. CPP For the month of April, CPP Cirle K recognizes Mike Hang as the member of the month. He has demonstrated superb attendance for all the weekend events. In addition, Mike goes above and beyond the responsibilities of any member by updating the website and attending weekly Kiwanis luncheons. He has shown that he can provide the much needed help for the club and we would like to commend him for that. PCC Kenneth Ng is a new member who joined the beginning of the Spring 2009 semester. Not only did he immediately become involved by joining the Scrapbook Committee, he has gone to every service event we had this month. Kenneth also reached out to other clubs by going to Metro Division's End of The Year Banquet. He is also our co-choreographer for PCC's EOTYB Dance Performance we are having. CSUEB May Fendell is our member of the month for april. She is a new member and has taken on scrapbooking chair. She also has helped the board out with numerous projects this month. UC Berkeley Member of the month: Karen Chen Karen has exemplified what it means to be a good member this month. Not only did she show herself to be a hard worker at concession stands and Camp Cazadero, she further took initiative in leading the club by chairing Relay for Life- for 24 hours! Karen also came to share her ideas at multiple committee meetings, and even joined in singing a jingle for the Kiwanians with other members. Did I mention she also went to the Golden Gate banquet and promptly takes photos during events and uploads them? Well, she does! Great job, Karen! UCI This month's outstanding member of the month goes to Emillio Sanchez. He is just recently became a new member, but has been going to more service projects than some of the board members. The time he has already dedicated to service is amazing, especially for only being a one month old member. His passion for service does not stop there, he continues to support other members by attending multiple committee meetings. 2 weeks ago, he became Member of the week, something that we just started, where a newspecial member gets recognition at every general meeting. He is not afriad to try new things or to go out of his comfort zone, at his very first service project, he participated in our service stop cheer, even though he had no idea what he was doing. His passion is something we can all learn from. Almost everyone at UCI, even at our young age, knows someone who struggled or is struggling with cancer. Most importantly, cancer never sleeps or takes a break, and there is no cure yet for this debilitating disease. ThatŐs why itŐs important that we at UCI Circle K Relay for Life in a show of our support and dedication to this important cause. CSULB Our outstanding member of the month goes to Jessica Howell. Jessica accumulated the most hours amongst our members with 13 total as well as attending 3 different projects. Jessica is one who always keeps our club laughing and having a good time as well as delivering a nice helping of service to go with it! UCLA This week's super cool member is Nancy Wen, and she has been active for years! Not only has she taken part in gathering supplies and building our club's shanty house for Habitat fo Humanities' Shanty Town day, but she's also gone to many other events like the TV Taping for America's Got Talent. She's also been an active member of various committees. Yay Nancy! SDSU Our member for the month of April, is Carmen Mo. She has proven to be a dependable member and friend. Carmen has dedicated herself to Circle K, and regardless of her busy schedule she has managed to chair an event for the month of April, the March of Dimes. For her hard work, dedication, and generosity it is easy to see why she is a wonderful addition to Circle K, way to go Carmen! UCSD There are 2 April MOM's. Tommy Huynh: Tommy has been really active for the past two months. He has been signing up for almost every event and has attended most of the meetings. His eagerness to serve and his caring and friendly personality shines through his persistent and on time attendance to service projects. This in turn helps inspire other members to do the same - to serve, but to also care at the same time. His friendly attributes and his persistence in attending club functions makes Tommy extremely deserving of MOM. Theresa Wong: Not only has Theresa been very active in this club, by attending our weekly meetings, she has also been very active in terms of opportunities outside of the service events (in which she also frequently attends). She is highly involved in the committees! Her enthusiasm to do something for the club shines through the ideas that she throws out and in her confidence that the club will be able to grow. We need more members like Theresa, which is all the more reason why she deserves to be one of our MOMs this month! |
