Members of the Month - October 2008
Sac State
This past month our service hours have tripled since last month, and this could not have been achieved with out all our new member’s dedication. One especially helpful member is Vue Cha, who has gone above and beyond, always trying to make it to every event our club has offered. Before Circle K Vue seemed like a quiet and reserved person, who just went with the “flow.” Now, he is part of the party and the enthusiasm at Sac State CKI. Ever since Circle K, he is constantly smiling and always willing to do more. The real turning point this month for Vue was at Crazy Kompetition. In the beginning it seemed he just was going with the flow and decided to give one of our district events a shot, not really expecting much. Afterwards he was totally excited and wanted to go to Fall Training Conference. Also our organization Circle K, can also be about becoming the person you want to be and bringing out the best of you. This is especially true of Vue, which might be great for our own club to have a such a willing member, but it is even more of a blessing to be reminded what first got us all caught by the CKI bug and see what great affects it has on people. *We are PROUD of you!, say we are Proud of you!* UCD
Our member of the month is Alex Wang! A new member who quickly became very active, Alex has attended many of our service projects such as the Senior Citizen Dance, Bufferlands Planting, the Children's Halloween Party and the work parties. He even made an effort to come out and helped table at our Community Service Fair a couple days after learning about Circle K at our Meet and Greet . Alex has truly been an amazing member showing his love for service and sharing that with other members as well as the community as he gets to know them at every event he attends. Congrats Alex, and thank you for all your hard work! UNR Hank Davis is the October member of the month for UNR. Before he even became a member he was going to events and helping think of new ones. Over the summer he went to almost every service event and now that he is a paid member he goes to all kinds of events. UoP Weison Chen is our member of the month for October. Weison had 15 hours of community service this month, and showed up to a majority of our meetings this month as well. The only reason he didn’t show up to all of them is because he has other club obligations during our Circle K meeting time. Weison is always enthusiastic when he comes to meetings and service projects, and he expresses a love for community service, just as all of us at Circle K do. UCR Jenny Cheung is the member of the month for October! She has been consistent in attending service events, particularly the soup kitchen event that happens every week. Jenny is also interesting in doing more for the club—she plans to chair an event and enhance her leadership skills. UNLV If you haven’t had a chance to see our new awesome club t-shirt, then you should really take the time to do so. It was designed by our very own Angie Chiao! She put a lot of time and dedication into creating our club t-shirt as well as trying her hardest to have everybody else’s ideas included in the shirt design. Not only that but she has also been a very dedicated member in terms of service projects and other club functions. She has helped out during the planning of YOUR installation banquet and participated in many past service projects. She gets along with all of our members and is really interactive. She carries that true Circle K spirit and for that we have chosen her as our Member of the Month. CPP Nichole Sagisi is our member of the month because ever since the first meeting, she has been the most active by coming to most, if not all, of our general meetings, as well as events. We believe she is a very dedicated member for coming out to these events, even if it is far from her home and has one of the toughest major, and we love the energetic spirit and humor that is in her. CSU Easy Bay
On of our new members is stepping up already so early on the year. Jenae Strauch is our October member of the month because although new, she has shown dedication for the club by attending most of our service projects as well as our socials. Se has taken the chance to get to know Golden Gate division as well as helping us promote our club. Also, she helped get members to help with our Haunted House as well as putting time and effort to help build it. The club really thanks her hard work. Keep it up! UCB Kenneth Lee has been the most active member this month. He committed 99 service hours at 63 events this month alone and board members fear that he might pass them in MRP! As a bronze level member, Kenneth attends every committee meeting with enthusiasm and ideas (he even put makeup on for newsletter committee) and actively attends socials and service projects every weekend. Basically, Ken is a great kid. He’s following in the footsteps of his older brother and President James Lee. Yay! CSUF Monica Hour has been an outstanding member this month. She has been to almost every service project , since she started she has shown interest in the cki. When rides are needed she offers herself to drive which of course it is always a good thing. UCI Stephen Bishtawi was chosen as Member of the Month due to his amount of service hours. He also drives to multiple events even though he is not a board member and shows up to lots of events throughout the week. He has shown a lot of dedication throughout his time in circle k and remained active even during the summer. UCLA Donald Altamirano & Monique Ruiz – Since first joining Circle K, this dynamic duo has been attending many service projects and socials. On one whole Saturday, they attended all of the events including Tree People, Lange Foundation, and Campus Recycling at night. Because they were such a great team, it was only appropriate to award our first (and maybe last?) Double Member of the Weeks! Mimi Ho – A fresh face in the scene, Mimi has been an avid participant in many of our projects including Lange Foundation. She has even contributed to the club by writing an article for our publications! It was these merits that made her stand out from the crowd! Glenn Windmiller – A spirited face with a big heart; Glenn has already gone to so many service projects and socials that we’ve lost count. Glenn had gone out to many Kiwanis Family events, including the Playa Del Ray K-Kids Installation at Chuck-E-Cheeses! His vibrant personality is unstoppable! Richard Giedlin – Richard has participated in many of our socials and service projects, including coming with us to explore LA, and showing us his skills in Cranium at our Board Game Night. His many contributions to our committees has been greatly appreciated! ECC
Hiroki Baba— Hiroki has recently stepped up and become our club’s newest treasurer, after our club experienced a vacancy in that position for a period of time. He always seems to have large wads of cash on him (have you seen his wallet?!), and he knows how to count, so it was a sign he was destined to be our treasurer. But in all honesty, Hiroki has been fantastic and always the dependable one. He has attended many of our club events such as CKI South and Knott’s Scary Farm social. When he’s not busy dressing up as Marilyn Monroe for our Movie Scare-a-thon event or driving recklessly, cutting club members off on the freeway, he’s gets down to business. As he says, with a serious face, and shrugged arms…“Leave it to me,” and things sure get done that way. Congratulations Hiroki for being our October Member of the Month! (oh and, he’s not Korean). CSULB The member of the month is Cesar Cabrera. Cesar’s self –proclaimed title is “a rebel with a cause” and he has proven his dedication by attending numerous events (he joined the club in September). Despite lacking a car, he never complains about having to take the bus, instead he uses his humor to make everyone feel comfortable. Congrats Cesar! UCSD Luis Preciado, Soan Park, Jason Wu, and Richard Han are our Member of the Month for October. Their dedications to Circle K demonstrated the three tenets of Circle K: Service, Leadership, and Fellowship. They served the community through various service and fundraising events, and they participated in our club committees. Thank you all of your for help! We truly appreciate your dedications! SDSU Michelle Fletcher is our October member of the month. As a new member, she’s stepped it up and has gone to most of the events we’ve held this month, including our member retreat. She’s great to be around, and is a great addition to our club! |
