Fundraising Spotlight
What is Fundraising Spotlight?
The purpose of the bimonthly Fundraising Spotlight is to recognize a well-organized fundraiser hosted by a CNH Circle K club that raises money for one of our three District Fundraising Initiatives.
For the month of March, the fundraising spotlights go to UNLV and CSU Fresno.
Fundraising Spotlight: UNLV's Serenade Night
Each year, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Circle K International holds a night dedicated to music and love. On the evening of February 24th, UNLV hosted its Serenade fundraiser. Proceeds from this musical showcase went to our District Fundraising Initiative, Not For Sale. Ironically, attendees would make bids on certain performers for sale. Performances ranged from improvised acts, free-styled on the spot that night. Other performances included medleys of songs ranging from current Top 40 to oldies from the eighties.
Complete with opportunity drawings, light refreshments, and a photo booth, the atmosphere at Serenade was both upbeat and romantic. Attendees dressed to impress, and decorations were spot on with the red and black romantic theme. Tables were lined with rose petals. The dim lighting set the romantic tone for the night.

Fundraising Spotlight: CSU Fresno C^3 Event
In March, California State University, Fresno hosted their first divisional event, C^3 (AKA C-cubed). The divisions who joined were Central Coast and Capital (hence the name c-cubed). This fun-filled event was in combination with a fundraiser for Project Eliminate with a service project alongside an “epic” game of Capture the Flag. The service project was to help the city of Clovis by cleaning up Letterman Park. The activities included a general clean-up of the park, pruning bushes, filling in gopher holes & repainting bathroom doors. Those efforts helped make the park more presentable as well as making it safer for children to run and play without tripping into the scattered holes.Since this was a full day event, our East Fresno Kiwanis was very generous in providing lunch to feed the volunteers. The cost of participating in C-cubed was only $5 per volunteer. 80% of these proceeds went to Project Eliminate. The total raised was over $250!!! Cake-pops were also sold for $1 a pop. These funds, along with the 20% from C-cubed went towards D-con expenses for the club members attending. This was quite a successful event and will set the bar for fundraising and divisional events to come.Written by CSU Fresno Treasurer Jessica Dao & Fundraising Chair Joann Dao
